So I had my routine eye exam today.
I wear glasses so that I may see up close. Comes in handy for simple things like reading, using computer, reading the labels on clothes when I shop so not to come home with items three sizes too small, menus, etc.
It's always so fun at the eye doctor.
You get to sit in so many different chairs and stick your forehead to a numerous types of gadgets and watch all sorts of flashing, beaming, moving objects, ya know sort of like a video game.
Then they take photos of your eye so you can see all the gross looking red blotches and veins in a blown up size.
The best part is putting those drops in your eyes that numb them and turn your eyes a pretty yellow and make them feel like sandpaper.
So after two hours of thrills I get to pay them $137 for a new set of glasses-- because the my vision has "slightly" changed for the worse. Thank goodness for the insurance coverage for the balance of charges!
AND for an extra bonus I get to add another prescription to my cabinet shelf! My eyes are having trouble creating tears, which explains the VERY uncomfortable dryness I've had on top of the extremely dry weather!
So the doctor gives me this prescription for Restasis. It's an eye drop that is suppose to relieve the dryness. Hey, that should be great right?
Well, he then tells me that for the first FOUR weeks using it there is a good chance that I will have the side effect of a burning sensation when I use it.......and it needs to be used every morning and every night.........oh yeah, how fun is it going to be to have flames shooting out of my eyes twice a day!
To make it all an even more rewarding moment he tells me that chronic dry eyes is a common event as "we" get older.
I can't wait for my yearly Pap Smear!
